TAV Mediopadana station

Anno 2017/2022 - Reggio Emilia - Italy

To complete the extraordinary project of the architect Santiago Calatrava for the high-speed railway station called Mediopadana, was shared with the same architect, the drafting of a project for inclusion in the landscape of the station car park and the building. The project wanted to maintain the close relationship between the architecture and the surrounding agricultural landscape, so as to create a suggestion in the passenger leaving the station. The car yards are therefore hidden by ground movements and vegetation so as to distract the view from an easy perception of the vehicles, without however lengthening the walking times to reach the vehicle.

Tree species have been introduced with a particular horizontal development to allow the building to be seen upon arrival by car, thus ensuring at the same time effective shading of the square. The goal is to create a vegetal stratification of limited volume, taking up the theme of the vegetal pergola.

The particular suspended lighting contributes significantly to the reduction of light pollution.
