Viale Umberto I
Reggio Emilia, Italy, 2017/2022

The redevelopment project of avenue Umberto I - section between the intersection with via Codro and the one with via Magati - was aimed at finding a balance between the spirit of the place and the spirit of the time, or rather between the restoration of the cultural asset and the need to give answers to new urban functions for the community.
By intervening on a total area of approximately 32,000 square metres, with a length of over 500 meters and an average width of 65 metres, the project therefore aimed to identify a solution which, on the one hand, seeks to bring to light, as possible, the original historical design and to enhance the historical testimonies, on the other hand it has the scope to respond to the requests and new sensitivities such as urban and road safety, accessibility and usability for all, the public use of the asset for cultural activities , playful and social.
