Villa Reale Park in Monza

Monza, Italy

The need to adopt modifications to the Monza racetrack for the MotoSport races required a careful analysis of the trees in the historic woods located very close to the track, through a census and both botanical and phytosanitary evaluation. The analysis revealed a problem relating to the very strong presence of invasive tree species to the detriment of the native species of the park, causing a slow but constant mutation of the forest balance of the park. Invasive species, including Quercus rubra, inserted in the park for purely productive and experimental purposes, are in fact damaging the specimens of Quercus robur, now rare in various areas.

The project proposes a plant recovery, with an important rebalancing between the species and an improved relationship between the track and the historic park, preserving the design and the architectural and botanical references present.
